What is Albinism?

Albinism is a rare, inherited genetic condition that affects the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin, hair, and eye color. This can result in lighter skin, hair, and irises.  Albinism can also affect vision, with people with albinism often experiencing reduced visual acuity, light sensitivity, and nystagmus (involuntary eye movements).
